Areola tattoo is a more complex tattoo treatment that involves implanting micropigment into the dermis artistically to simulate a nipple and areola. It takes skill by a highly trained and experienced cosmetic tattooist to achieve a 3D result. It is often the final step in the journey of a breast cancer survivor.
We can cater to all styles of nipple size and colour with or without reconstruction of the breast and/or nipple. For unilateral patients, we can colour match the other side and for bilateral patients, We can create the best style to suit what you had before your surgery.
Usually the plastic and reconstructive surgeon will tell the patient when it’s a suitable time to proceed to have nipple areola tattooing and most patients are looking forward to completing the process as soon as possible to help them feel “normal” again. This part of the journey can be an emotional one as it is usually the end of a very long process of recovery.
Most patients must wait 6 months after the following medical treatments:
- Breast reconstruction surgery
- Final treatment of chemotherapy
- Completing radio therapy
